Do you have a satellite navigation system? They are great - right? Not always, or so it may seem to certain transport drivers.
And satellite navigation systems are now common place in a lot of cars. Not only that but lorries and other transport vehicles use satellite navigation. But things don?t always go smoothly. One lorry driver has left a trail of destruction to the value of $100,000 after a wrecking spree, which caused damage to seven cars.
The driver was using his satellite navigation system. His lorry was loaded with 23 tons of goods. Using the satellite navigation system, he took a wrong turn into a no-through road. He tried to perform a U-turn and demolished not only a small round-about but also two cars - a Peugeot and a Volkswagen. As the driver carried on driving his vehicle he did not realize that the Volkswagen was firmly attached to the side of his lorry. He then went on to hit a Mazda, a Renault, a Vauxhall, a Nissan, and a box trailer. The later smashed into a Daewoo.
The driver, from Belgium, was later put under arrest on suspicion of dangerous driving. There is a theory that the satellite navigation system was to blame for the carnage. It is thought that the driver may have lost his way having been navigated by the system. Local residences reported that lorries were often getting lost in their part of town and they are concerned that such dangers could cause damage not only to cars but also to people and property.
